Message from Gautam Roy, a noted football historian and statistician best known for his work in the book East Bengal 100 where he documented the illustrious 100 year history of the club. Mr. Roy is the former Media Manager of East Bengal club and is currently working on Indian football.
"I am thrilled and honoured to learn that IFA Shield USA is organizing a replica Kolkata Derby match at Atlanta which would be the most fitting tribute to celebration of India 's 75th year of Independence. IFA Shield which kicked off in 1893.is the 3rd oldest Heritage Football Tournament of India.I had been cyconosure of all the fans ever since Mohun Bagan won the Shield in 1911 which inspired the Indian youth to greater nationalistic deeds.East Bengal also became the first Indian team to win it three years in a row from 1949-51 thereby earning wide recognition and also the first side to be invited to Europe. In the history of the IFA Shield the iconic Kolkata Derby has been held 40 times.I wish the organisers all the Best wishes for drafting the sporting heritage of one of India's lifeline to faraway USA."

East Bengal Club is an Indian professional football club based in the city of Kolkata, West Bengal. Founded in 1920 the club competes in the Indian Super League, the top flight of Indian football, as well as the Calcutta Football League, the oldest football league in Asia. It is the third-most successful club in Indian football.
IFA SHIELD USA
This is the inaugural year of the IFA Shield in the USA. Conceived by a few die hard soccer ( football) fans . The tournament is planned to bring out the nostalgia amongst the fans and encourage the competitive spirit of the game. The tournament was conceived in a short period of two months and we would like to thank all participants , sponsors, donors and volunteers without whose help this would not have been possible.
ATK Mohun Bagan
Mohun Bagan Athletic Club is an Indian professional sports club based in Kolkata, West Bengal. Founded in 1889, its football section was one of the oldest in India and Asia. The club is most notable for its victory over East Yorkshire Regiment in the 1911 IFA Shield final. This victory made Mohun Bagan the first all-Indian side to win a championship over a British side and was a major moment during India’s push for independence. Although Mohun Bagan is a multi-sport club, the primary sport since its foundation had been football.
